Writing in your own voice
There's no-one on this planet like you, so why should you try and imitate someone else's writing style, or why should you try to strive to sound like anyone else.
Develop your own unique writing style. Find your own voice.
And when you write, write easily and quickly. Don't second-guess what you're writing. You'll get to the editing stage later.
Both phases are different and require different
When you write - just write. Don't stop the flow.
And when you edit - tweak your work so that it sounds real and ensure that you've said what you wanted to say in the most pleasant way.
In other words, when your reader gets to read your work, it must be a pleasure and it must have them wanting to finish your novel and not discard it for lack of interest.
Write then edit!
And find your own voice!
"Keep going! Redraft, rewrite, start again... Work consistently and often. This will help you achieve continuity with your work, and help you break your novel down into less terrifying pieces. Keep following your desire because things will get better."
